“Visual Arts Meet Research” is a virtual exhibition that combines two projects lead by Faculty members of Kyoto Seika University. In room 1, you will enjoy “WADAKO – Stories of Japanese Kites”, a project that combines research by Cecile Laly (Kyoto Seika University) and art photographs by Mami Kiyoshi (artist), and in room 2, you can visit “Washi: from mulberry to Manga, the Art of Paper in Japan” an anthropological project mixing research and manga lead by Yonehara Yūji (Kyoto Seika University), Frédéric Joulian (EHESS) and Itsu Horiguchi (mangaka).While the first project focuses on Japanese kite makers and their stories as a base to write Japanese kite history, the second project focuses on washi (Japanese paper), its current making and use in various sites of Japan.
