Kyoto Traditional Crafts Internship

Experiencing tradition and learning from masters

Kyoto Seika University offers a unique internship program for students to learn directly from masters of the Kyoto craft community and experience living tradition on-site at workshops and studios.

Textile dyeing, pottery, lacquerware, and incense making are traditional Japanese crafts that are still alive and thriving in Kyoto.
Kyoto Traditional Crafts Internship is conducted during the two-week summer holiday for third and fourth year students in the Faculty of Art, Design, Humanities, Manga, and Popular Culture. Those who have completed the prerequisite courses in their first and second years are eligible to apply. The program offers a wide range of host organizations and highlights the significance of studying art in Kyoto. Many students participate in the program each year and discover new perspectives and possibilities for their art practice.
